The four members of Eli Young Band have six kids between them, and every once in a while they try to bring their families out on the road, but they definitely have a strategy for when they do. Bassist Jon Jones says, “We’ll pick and choose some dates that are either closer to home or just that would be earlier shows than evening, or fun, quick little runs for them to come out.”
While you might think it would be the opposite, guitarist James Young says, “It’s easier to do it all together, you know, and bring ‘em all out at the same time than here and there.” Perhaps because then all of the guys are in daddy mode and they can help each other out with their kids on the bus.
The guys say their kids love riding on their tour bus because it’s like a playground or a big party for them, and Jon says the kids have definitely changed some things about their bus. “We’ve got, you know, one drawer, that I think used to be the liquor drawer on our old bus that is now the kid friendly toy drawer and all that stuff.”
Eli Young Band has nine shows left in 2018, as they continue to promote their latest single, “Love Ain’t,” including a New Year’s Eve Show at the House of Blues in Houston, in their home state of Texas.

James Young – “It’s easier to do it all together, you know, and bring ‘em all out at the same time than here and there.”
