One of the first signs of Christmas that helps get Tyler Rich into the spirit of the season is something his grandma has always done since he was a kid. “So my grandma, growing up used to always boil cinnamon and it fills the whole house with a cinnamon smell,” says Tyler. “So anything cinnamon that starts coming out” is a real trigger to him that Christmastime is here.
Being somewhat of a big kid at heart, Tyler loves everything about the holidays from the smells to the sights to the sounds. He says, “Christmas, I think for most of us, is just so nostalgic. The first time you get to watch a Christmas movie, it’s just this feeling that your endorphins start going, of just happiness. And just Christmas lights everywhere. I get this instant feeling of just happiness and just ‘Christmas is here.’ The families, and the movies, it being cold and cuddled up watching anything and drinking hot stuff (laugh). And eating so many sweets.”
One thing Tyler will get to celebrate this Christmas is having his debut single, “The Difference,” in the top 30 on the charts. He’s getting to play it out on the road as part of Brett Young’s CMT Here Tonight Tour, which will run through December 16th.
