(AUDIO) ELI YOUNG BAND PREFERS TO PERFORM CLOSE TO HOME ON NEW YEAR’S EVE

Eli Young Band will be performing a New Year’s Eve Show in their home state of Texas at the House of Blues in Houston.  James Young says they love playing shows on New Year’s Eve because, “We’re doing what we love, we’re on stage. We’re surrounded by our friends and family and there’s pretty much nowhere else in the world we’d probably rather be than just to be in the company with each other. “

Mike Eli does recall one New Year’s Eve show that was a little weird for the band.  “We booked a show a few years ago for New Year’s Eve right around the birth of Jon’s first child,” explains Mike, and it turns out Jon’s son ended up being born on New Year’s Eve, so Mike says, “We ended up having to play a show without Jon.”

Now that all of the members of EYB are married and have families, they prefer to book New Year’s Eve gigs close to home.  The band will have a few weeks off after New Year’s Eve before they continue their Love Ain’t Tour, named after their current single, in 2019.

Eli Young Band – New Year’s Eve  :36

James Young – “Usually New Years, we’re doing what we love, we’re on stage. We’re surrounded by our friends and family and there’s pretty much nowhere else in the world we’d probably rather be than just to be in the company with each other. “

Mike Eli – “New Year’s kind of became a weird moment for us.  We booked a show a few years ago for New Year’s Eve right around the birth of Jon’s first child.  That was actually his birthday, when he was born so…”

Jon Jones – “Wasn’t supposed to be.”

Mike – “We ended up having to play a show without Jon.”

Jon – “Now when we play, we try to stay local, which is nice.  It was, Ithink the first show where I’ve never missed a note, actually.”

Mike – “No, you just missed all of them (laugh).”
