Thomas Rhett’s latest single, “Sixteen,” is the last song he’ll release off his Life Changes album, with his fifth album due to be released later this year. Thomas has been writing and recording up a storm for the new project, but he admits, “Every time I finish a record, in my brain, I go, ‘I have nothing else to say. How in the world are we going to write for another record?’”
Fortunately, when the time comes, Thomas is never short on ideas. He says, “The moment you get the momentum back and you start to get into a room, and you start writing, and you realize that there’s a million things you haven’t said about your life, or about past experiences.”
Since he recorded his current album, Thomas’ life has changed dramatically, with the adoption of his daughter Willa Gray, and the birth of his other daughter, Ada James, and he says, “So there’s a lot of cool different inspiration and we pulled from that. And as your life changes, there’s so many different ideas that you can pull from and when you get in the studio somehow, some way, the song gods make things fresh again for ya.”
“Sixteen” is currently sitting in the top three on the charts, which means news about new music will be coming sooner than later.
Thomas Rhett – approach to next album :31
“Every time I finish a record, in my brain, I go, ‘I have nothing else to say. How in the world are we going to write for another record?’ And the moment you get the momentum back and you start to get into a room, and you start writing, and you realize that there’s a million things you haven’t said about your life, or about past experiences. Because even since Life Changes came out, we were in the thick of the process, and now we’re like in the thick of the actual being parents. And so there’s a lot of cool different inspiration and we pulled from that. And as your life changes, there’s so many different ideas that you can pull from and when you get in the studio somehow, some way, the song gods make things fresh again for ya.”
