Back in October, Brantley Gilbert hosted his first ever Kick It In the Ship Cruise, featuring a ton of live music and couple thousand of his fans, and by all accounts it was a huge success. Brantley says, “We had a blast. It was a lot of fun. We didn’t really know what to expect.”
Brantley admits he was a little worried about the cruise before it actually set sail because he says, “Leading up to it I’d kinda kept an eye on cruises and stuff and I remember seeing some stories about them docking ships because people got in fights and I was like, ‘We’re never gonna leave the dock!’ Like this thing’s never going to see the ocean. My people fight!”
After the cruise was over, much to his pleasant surprise, Brantley says, “They told us that it was one of the most genuine, kind, considerate crowds they’ve ever had. They set drink records, they set attendance records. It was nice. I was so proud of them at the end of it. Man, we got off the boat I was like, ‘Man, we did all that and we didn’t have to the dock the boat!’ It was a lot of fun.”
In fact, the cruise was so successful, Brantley’s already planning the second year. Perhaps Lindsay Ell will be one of his guests this year so they can perform their new song, “What Happens In A Small Town” together on the ship. “We had a blast. It was a lot of fun. We didn’t really know what to expect. I was a little bit worried, to be honest with you. I was a little concerned cause leading up to it I’d kinda kept an eye on cruises and stuff and I remember seeing some stories about them docking ships because people got in fights and I was like, ‘We’re never gonna leave the dock!’ Like this thing’s never going to see the ocean. My people fight! But honestly, they told us that it was one of the most genuine, kind, considerate crowds they’ve ever had. They set drink records, they set attendance records. It was nice. I was so proud of them at the end of it. Man, we got off the boat I was like, ‘Man, we did all that and we didn’t have to the dock the boat!’ It was a lot of fun.”
