Back in the day, Mike Eli of Eli Young Band loved the ritual of getting a new physical CD and poring over it to learn everything he could about the artist and the music. Knowing that CD’s are being replaced by digital music and the experience of studying the cover and the liner notes of an album is going away, Mike says, “It makes me sad. Growing up, I consumed music differently. Every day there’s something different. I don’t want to be the ‘kids get off my lawn’ kind of guy. You know, I think that you can quickly turn into that person.”
While Mike wishes the ritual and excitement of getting a physical album in your hands still existed, he realizes that times change and so he’s looking at the bright side. He says, “That means that you can go in and focus on a few songs and get ‘em out and then you go back in, you focus on another few songs, and then you get ‘em out. And there are days where it’s like, you know, this is kind of a good thing, too. That’s the optimist side of me!”
Eli Young Band’s latest single, “Love Ain’t,” is climbing the charts and available now on all streaming services and wherever digital music is sold.

“It makes me sad. Growing up, I consumed music differently. Every day there’s something different. I don’t want to be the ‘kids get off my lawn’ kind of guy. You know, I think that you can quickly turn into that person. I think these days it’s just the way it is and so I just gotta kind of accept it. I remember consuming music like opening the album and reading the notes and I wanted to know who produced it, who wrote it. I wanted to know everything about it. And these days it’s a little different. But, that means that you can go in and focus on a few songs and get ‘em out and then you go back in, you focus on another few songs, and then you get ‘em out. And there are days where it’s like, you know, this is kind of a good thing, too. That’s the optimist side of me!”
