Mike Eli of Eli Young Band has two kids, Kline who is six-and-a-half and Kash who is seven-months old. Mike admits he was a little worried about the adjustment Kline would have to go through when they brought the new baby home, but he says, “She’s been good. I think it’s one of those things that at the beginning she had to go through that transition and figure out that she can’t just demand our time at any point. So now she kind of realizes that, okay, this is my time while he’s napping or when he has already gone to sleep. This is my time to get all of the attention.”
Mike, who is enjoying a top 20 song with Eli Young Band with their song “Love Ain’t,” says that Kline has also turned into a very helpful big sister. “She has been really helpful,” he says. “I think that it could have completely gone the other way, and her not being interested whatsoever in being helpful. She doesn’t listen to us about anything else when it comes to cleaning up her toys or doing any of that, she tends to give us crap about that. But when it comes to Kash when we say, ‘Hey, will you grab Kash’s pacifier or grab a burp rag,’ she goes and gets it right away. Which is kind of good. She doesn’t give us any slack when it comes to that.”
We’re sure Mike’s wife Kacey appreciates Kline’s help, since Mike is on the road a lot with Eli Young Band. In fact, they already have dates scheduled throughout the year through September so far. You can see EYB’s complete tour schedule on EliYoungBand.com.
