(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG WASN’T COMPLETELY SOLD ON ‘HERE TONIGHT,’ AT FIRST

One of the co-writers on Brett Young’s latest single, “Here Tonight,” was Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum, and Brett admits that when they first finished the song, he wasn’t sure if it was one that he should record.  But then, Brett says, “Charles sang the demo vocal on it and listening back to him sing it, I was A) really intimidated to try to sing it now because Charles is such a great singer, but B) listening to it, it really did feel like me and I thought I did want it for my record.”

Based on the success of the song, it turned out Brett made the right decision, and “Here Tonight” was the beginning of a great writing partnership with Charles Kelley. “We’ve written together since,” says Brett. “It was our first one, and it made the record, and ended up being the first single, so it was pretty fun.”
