Midland spends a large portion of their life on the road touring, but it’s something they’ve dreamt of since they were kids. Mark Wystrach says, “It’s in your DNA, like it’s in your blood man. When I was a kid I knew I wasn’t gonna go get a 9 to 5 job. I always used to watch the sunset behind the Santa Rita Mountains and wondered what the hell was on the other side of those hills.”
Mark grew up on his family’s ranch in Arizona, and he says, “Ever since I was a kid I had a fascination to go and see the world. And maybe that started with us doing our family vacations and throwing all the cattle in the trucks and the trailers and driving from Arizona to, you name the destination, but we crossed the entire country every summer for two and half weeks and I fell in love with the road.
Midland is currently out on their Electric Rodeo Tour, promoting their latest single, “Mr. Lonely,” which is available now.
Midland – road life in DNA :36
Mark Wystrach – “It’s in your DNA, like it’s in your blood man. When I was a kid I knew I wasn’t gonna go get a 9 to 5 job. And maybe that started with us doing our family vacations and throwing all the cattle in the trucks and the trailers and driving from Arizona to, you name the destination, but we crossed the entire country every summer for two and half weeks and I fell in love with the road. We had a CB radio and my dad taught us how to talk to the truckers and it’s like a drug. It’s a high, but life on the road, it ain’t easy. it’s a hazardous place.”
