Carly Pearce has known since she was a little girl that she’s wanted to be a country music singer, and without the support of her mom and dad, her dream might never have come true. When Carly was 16 and her parents gave her permission to drop out of high school and do home schooling instead so she could move to Pigeon Forge and become a performer at Dollywood, they didn’t just send her off and wish her luck. Her mom actually packed up her life as well and moved with Carly, leaving her dad to hold down the home front while they were away. Carly says, “[My parents] kind of separated their marriage so that my mom could move with me to Pigeon Forge, so I could sing at Dollywood. And through the years they’ve supported me and loved on me and given me the tools to be able to chase this crazy dream since I was a little girl.”
Now that both Carly and her parents’ sacrifices are paying off, with her latest single, “Closer to You” moving into the top 30 and making its way up the charts, Carly says, “This is very, very much a dream come true not only for me but for them. I’m an only child and I’m so close to them and I owe them so, so much for everything that they’ve sacrificed for me.”
And if you know anything about Carly’s parents, they are incredibly proud of their daughter and continue to support her and cheer her on just as much as they did when she was 16 and dreaming of moving to Nashville one day.
