Carly Pearce will release her sophomore album later this year, featuring her latest single, “Closer to You,” and when asked how much her relationship with her fiancée, Michael Ray, is impacting the music she’s recording, she says, “I think a lot.”
While Carly is in love and couldn’t be happier in her relationship, she clarifies that the way it’s influencing her sophomore album, isn’t “all straight up love songs.” She says, “Having to work for this career has made me a better person. I think getting this relationship later in life has made me a better person. And I think you figure out all of those different emotions and why certain relationships didn’t work or why you had to go through this or why this one sticks out so much and I think you’re going to hear all of those elements in this.”
“Closer to You” is definitely a reflection of how Carly feels about Michael, but her next album will be well-rounded, covering a variety of emotions.
