Brantley Gilbert is fortunate that his dad lives right next-door to him and his wife, which is good because it means Barrett’s grandpa is always nearby. Most of the time it’s a good thing, however Brantley laughs when he talks about the conversation that happens most mornings between his dad and his wife Amber. “He comes every morning before Amber is ready for him. He’ll like just show up. ‘Where’s he at?’ ‘He’s asleep. He’ll be up in about 10 minutes.’ ‘Alright, I’ll wait.’” Brantley laughs and says, “God almighty.”
But Brantley loves his dad and Barrett loves his grandpa, so even though he shows up a little too early some mornings, Brantley is glad to have him so close by. Soon, Amber and Barrett will hit the road with Brantley when he heads out on his Not Like Us tour, to promote his latest single, “What Happens in a Small Town,” which will be on his new album being released later this year.
