Midland is working on the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut album, On the Rocks, and Cameron Duddy says what fans can expect is the next evolution of the band, with an emphasis on bringing their live show to the album making process, which in turn will only make their live shows even better. “I know we aren’t the only band to get tired of your own material if you’re working it for two years,” says Cameron. “So we’re writing material that is very exciting to play live, and that is very much in the forefront of our minds as we were writing the album and recording it.”
As the music evolves, Cam is excited to see the band evolve as well. While Midland officially consists of Cam, Mark and Jess, they also travel with two other band members, and Cam says, “I’m personally very excited to see this band grow and be able to add members – pedal steel and piano, perhaps another utility player. But most importantly I’m looking forward to just musical growth from all of us. And the more stage time the better you get at your instrument and your craft.”
Midland’s sophomore album will be released sometime later this year, featuring their current single, “Mr. Lonely.”
