Rascal Flatts loves to tour and play live shows, but they admit it can be dangerous and sometimes embarrassing work. For instance, they once had a stage that basically popped them up from underneath the stage like a toaster, and Joe Don says, “I blew my knee out. Gary tweaked his knee.”
But then there’s the random, unpredictable things that most artists have probably gone through at some point in their career. According to Joe Don, “We’ve been pulled off stage. We’ve fallen offstage. We’ve split our pants on stage. There’s been blood. There’s been almost near pass outs. So yeah it’s a dangerous gig but we love it.”
So far the guys seem to be doing okay on their Summer Playlist Tour, but it runs through November 3rd, which means there is still plenty of time for mishaps. So good luck guys, and congratulations on your top 20 single (and still climbing), “Back to Life.”
Rascal Flatts – the dangers of touring :21
Jay DeMarcus – “The toasters weren’t bad.”
Joe Don Rooney – “The toasters were bad. I blew my knee out. Gary tweaked his knee. We’ve done about everything to capture everybody’s phobias on video at this point, every tour we’ve done. But we’ve been pulled off stage. We’ve fallen offstage. We’ve split our pants on stage. There’s been blood. There’s been almost near pass outs. So yeah it’s a dangerous gig but we love it.”
