The four members of Eli Young Band, Mike, Jon, James and Chris, all met each other in college in Texas. At the time they were all pursuing degrees in different fields. Lead singer, Mike Eli, was studying to be a financial planner/advisor, and bassist, Jon Jones jokes if he wasn’t doing music, Jon Jones – “I’d be your therapist Mike. I originally went to school for … music but ended up with a degree in psychology, only to go play music. So, the one thing about a degree in psychology is it takes more degrees than that to do anything with it. So, I don’t know what I’d be doing.”
Mike jokes that if he had gone to work for a financial investment firm like Fidelity, he would definitely need Jon’s services as a therapist.
And Jon says, “I think if we weren’t on the road, we’d all need therapy. I think that is our therapy sometimes,” because touring and getting to make great music, like EYB’s latest single, “Break It In,” is what keeps them sane.
