Brantley Gilbert and Lindsay Ell are heading into Wednesday night’s CMA Awards with the #1 song in country music, “What Happens in a Small Town,” which is nominated for Musical Event of the Year. It’s a big deal for Brantley because it’s his first CMA nomination in seven years, but he says, “It’s Lindsay’s first. And partnering with her on this song has been absolutely amazing, seeing how hard she works.”
With this year’s CMA Awards celebrating the legendary women in Country Music, Brantley explains another reason he’s so excited about their song being nominated. He says, “Right now is hard times for women in our genre, frankly. And I love to see awesome things happening for any female in our genre, but especially Lindsay, being as close as I’ve been able to be with her and seeing how hard she grinds just makes it that much more special. I think I’m probably more excited for her, well, definitely, than I am for me.”
We look forward to seeing Brantley on the red carpet at the CMA Awards this Wednesday night, because ever since his wife Amber started attending the shows with him, she’s warmed him up to the idea of getting dressed up and looking sharp for the night, and he admits he enjoys it a little now too, because it makes Amber happy.
