Riley Green is an avid hunter, and he’s an especially big fan of turkey hunting, but when it comes to Thanksgiving, he usually leaves the turkey up to the folks at Butterball because he says, “The problem in Northeast Alabama is turkey season does not fall during Thanksgiving. We only have a spring turkey season.”
Riley says if he had a turkey he shot, in the freezer at Thanksgiving, he would use it for his holiday meal, but since he usually doesn’t, he goes with store bought. Plus, Riley says, ”We go buy our Thanksgiving turkey to make sure it doesn’t have pellets in it when we cook it.”
Yeah, nobody wants to crack a tooth on Thanksgiving. When Riley gathers with his family to give thanks, he’ll have a lot to reflect on from this year. One thing we know he’s thankful for is how the fans have embraced his latest single, “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” and how their passion for the song has helped push it into the top 30 on the charts so far.
Riley Green – Thanksgiving :12
“The problem in Northeast Alabama is turkey season does not fall during Thanksgiving. We only have a spring turkey season. So if I’ve got one in the freezer, yes. If not, I think we go buy our Thanksgiving turkey to make sure it doesn’t have pellets in it when we cook it.”
