Motorcycles are a major part of Brantley Gilbert’s life, and he considers the guys he rides with his brothers, so it’s not surprising that his two-year-old son Barrett is fascinated with motorcycles. Brantley says, “He absolutely loves ‘em, which is a little bit terrifying, but I wanted him to be around ‘em from a early age.”
While Brantley lets Barrett be around motorcycles, he hopes it will be a while before he actually rides one by himself. “We’ll cross that bridge when we get there,” says Brantley. “I’d like that to be a little later in life than when I started, just because I think it takes a little while, even if you were raised around ‘em. They’re like guns. You have to respect ‘em or they’ll hurt you really bad.”
But as much as Brantley wants to hold off on Barrett riding a motorcycle, the “Fire’t Up” singer may not be helping his cause, because he says, “Honestly – I don’t know if I should say this or not, I’ll probably get lit up for it – but I can sit him on the front seat with me and just kinda ride. He’s got a little helmet and we just ride in circles. Our driveway’s a big circle and we’ll just ride around on it, and he absolutely just cheese grins the whole time. And then when you try to pull him off of it, he gets upset.”
So if we had to guess, Barrett’s gonna be just like his daddy, riding motorcycles at a young age, but hopefully he’ll have absorbed his dad’s lessons about respecting the bike and its power.”
