Over the weekend, Lady Antebellum was honored with the ‘Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award’ for their continued support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They’re also still flying high from “What If I Never Get Over You” becoming their 10th #1 song of their career, and Hillary Scott says, “I can’t help but feel even more gratitude for the success of ‘What If I Never Get Over You,’ and the career that we’ve had up to this point because of the platform that it gives us to use our voices to bring light to amazing places like St. Jude, to give back and see lives changed.”
While Lady A knows that making and performing music is their calling and what they’re meant to be doing, that calling allows them to fulfill a greater purpose of giving back and paying forward the blessings of their career, and Hillary says, “What we witnessed, touring this hospital and everything that they do, that’s the real good stuff, what they’re doing.”
Lady Antebellum first started visiting St. Jude over a decade ago, and now that they’re all parents to young children, the ability to support such an incredible hospital that is saving kids’ lives every day is even more powerful and personal. “Thinkin’ about your own children is really heavy,” says Dave Haywood. “I mean, talking eye-to-eye with the parents, as well – I mean there was a young family that had just come here from New York and thy had a nine-week old, and you know, they’re our age. And we’re talking just about life, and what it’s like to have a new baby and staying up all night, and on top of that they’re going through one of the hardest things you could ever go through. So, it really wrecks you, but this hospital also gives so much hope at the same time, and thinking of our littles is a heavy moment.”
Speaking of Lady A’s littles, they were the inspiration for their brand new single, “What I’m Leaving For,” and they’re also featured in the adorable video, which is available now on YouTube.
