When it was time for Riley Green to make the video for his latest song, “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” he knew he wanted to capture the passionate reaction from his fans on the road. Riley says, “That song has been one that I’ll step away from the band and go sit on a stool and play it acoustic and people have stopped. I’ve never seen a reaction like that where people would just stop and listen to the words. That’s a really odd thing now.”
Not only would people stop in the middle of his show to really listen to the song, but before long they began singing every word so loudly that Riley would stop singing and let them take over. From Riley’s perspective it’s been amazing because he says, “It’s really just a moment of me sittin’ there and singing and kinda expressin’ my feelings about two guys that really helped me become who I am. And the reaction of the crowd has been something that I think is worth capturing for videos.”
If you haven’t seen the video for “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” it’s available now on his YouTube page, and it’s definitely a powerful moment between Riley and his fans.
Riley Green – Grandpas video fan reaction :26
“That song has been one that I’ll step away from the band and go sit on a stool and play it acoustic and people have stopped. I’ve never seen a reaction like that where people would just stop and listen to the words. That’s a really odd thing now. I mean, it’s different to have a song that’s not upbeat, you don’t have a band and drums in your face. It’s really just a moment of me sittin’ there and singing and kinda expressin’ my feelings about two guys that really helped me become who I am. And the reaction of the crowd has been something that I think is worth capturing for videos.”
