C2C: Country to Country, the big multi-country, multi-artist country music festival will be happening this weekend and next in London, Dublin, Glasgow, Amsterdam and Berlin, with performances by Brett Young, Luke Combs, Eric Church, Darius Rucker, Old Dominion, The Cadillac Three and more. One thing country music artists learn about playing in Europe is that you better be familiar with your entire catalog of music. Since Europe doesn’t have dedicated country music radio stations to turn people onto the hits, fans often scour YouTube and streaming services to discover country music, which means they find all kinds of stuff. Brett Young recalls his first time playing in Europe. He says, “They did surprise us and know the lyrics to songs that hadn’t been singles and they’re real music fans. They buy the record and pay attention, but going back for the festival this year, I think we’ll probably pay a little bit more attention to making sure that we’re familiar with all the songs, in case people are lobbing out recommendations and things like that we want to be ready.”
So besides knowing his latest single, “Catch,” or his five #1 hits, Brett never knows what his European fans will want to hear, but he loves going back and continuing to build that fan base. He admits, “It’s a little bit nerve-racking trying to navigate what works and what doesn’t and what it is about you as an artist and about country music as a genre that they know and what they don’t. And we actually had a really pleasant experience and we had great fan interaction and reaction and so I’m excited to take the band back. I think it’s gonna be really fun.”
When Brett returns from Europe, he’ll continue headlining his Chapters Tour, before hitting the fair and festival circuit, and then jumping on the We Back Tour this summer with Jason Aldean.
