Last August, Florida Georgia Line announced they were starting their own record label, Round Here Records. For Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, it was the obvious next step in their evolution as artists, creators and entrepreneurs. “It kinda happened organically,” says Tyler. “We’re really good friends with the guys and the gal, Rae Lynn, that we’ve signed, and we’re such believers in them as artists and creators, that we just were excited about creating music with them.”
While there are plenty of record labels in Nashville, FGL felt like they could offer artists more by opening their own label. “That was kind of the foundation of starting a record label,” says Tyler, “just being excited to create music with artists that we believe in, and create opportunities for them, create more ownership for them, do things that maybe other labels couldn’t do – bring ‘em on tour, write songs with them, help them pick their songs, and just help create an opportunity for them to take their career to the next level.”
Florida Georgia Line is continuing to focus on their own music careers as well, with their fifth album in the works for release later this year, but Tyler says Round Here Records, “(has) been very fulfilling for both of us and very exciting and it’s kind of next chapter in, I guess, the FGL brand, if you will. And we’re just excited to see where that takes us and takes the artists that we believe in.”
Both Tyler and Brian have been enjoying an incredible vacation in Africa with their wives, staying a hotel where giraffe’s roam freely and even stick their heads through the windows of the restaurant, visiting an elephant rescue sanctuary, seeing lions and tigers on safari, and even getting within feet of silverback gorillas in the jungle. They were due to the return to the U.S. to prepare for the kickoff of the Chillaxification Tour with Kenny Chesney on April 18th, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the start of the Chillaxification Tour has been postponed until May 30th.
