(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG CONSIDERS GOING INCOGNITO FOR THE MUSIC

Congratulations to Brett Young, whose song “Catch,” just became his sixth consecutive #1 song of his career, which means, so far, every song Brett has released as a single has been a #1 hit.  If he had his choice, he would love to be out on the road celebrating with his fans who made it possible, but for now, Brett is celebrating at home with his wife and baby girl.

He’s hopeful to be able to get back out on the road in July, when he’s scheduled to start opening for Jason Aldean on his We Back Tour.  While he’s looking forward to being on the road with Jason, and he would love to be able to go out into the crowd every night to watch his show, he knows it would be difficult.  “I had this experience when I first got started, opening for an artist that I was a really big fan of,” recalls Brett, “and I just wanted to watch his set. And I walked out to watch, and a handful of people lined up wanting to take a photo. And it wasn’t a ton of people, but I had this overwhelming feeling that it was disrespectful to him and his time on stage. I know not everybody feels that way but that’s a conviction that I have, and so I’ve always felt guilty trying to go out and do that, cause even if one camera flashes while that person’s on stage, that’s their time.”

But all hope is not lost for the fairly conspicuous 6’6” singer.  His fellow Brett, Brett Eldredge is also very tall and easy to spot in a crowd, but he created a costume to be able to roam around freely, even at his own shows, before he would go on stage.  Brett Young says, “Maybe I gotta take one out of Brett Eldridge’s book and get a nice costume, and go start hiding in the crowd like John Mayer used to.”

So you never know, it could happen.  You might want to be on the lookout for a tall guy with a bad wig on Jason’s tour.

Brett Young – watching shows in crowd  :45

You know, I had this experience when I first got started, opening for an artist that I was a really big fan of,  and I just wanted to watch his set. And I walked out to watch, and a handful of people lined up wanting to take a photo. And it wasn’t a ton of people, but I had this overwhelming feeling that it was disrespectful to him and his time on stage. I know not everybody feels that way but that’s a conviction that I have, and so I’ve always felt guilty trying to go out and do that, cause even if one camera flashes while that person’s on stage, that’s their time. And so, it’s always tempting and it’s actually kind of a bummer. You know, I get to share the stage with so many amazing acts that I wish I could go out and take in the show and it just doesn’t feel like the right thing to do, to me, unfortunately. So, maybe I gotta take one out of Brett Eldridge’s book and get a nice costume, and go start hiding in the crowd like John Mayer used to.”
