(AUDIO) BRANTLEY GILBERT ENJOYS THE ‘DAD SPORT’ OF GOLF

Brantley Gilbert might not look like your average golfer, but as he’s gotten older, it’s a sport he’s learned to enjoy quite a bit.  He considers it a “dad hobby.”  “Like, it’s a dad sport,” says Brantley. “I can’t necessarily play full contact football anymore. That was my favorite.  And baseball, you can’t find eighteen folks that ain’t workin’, in one day, to go out and, you know, cut up on a baseball field.”

Since team sports aren’t really an option now, Brantley, who considers himself a competitive guy, says, “Golf is a good outlet for me. Plus it gets you out for four hours, and I usually cut my phone off, and that’s one of the only times in my life that I can kind of just turn the world off for a minute. I play with my dad and a lot of my buddies from back home, which is cool to kind of spend time and catch up with them.”

We’re not sure if golf has been part of Brantley’s social distancing plan, but he’s been staying connected with fans by hosting “Fire’t Up Fridays” in honor of his latest single, every Fruday night at 9pm ET/8pm CT on Instagram.

Brantley Gilbert – golf is a dad sport  :37

“Golf, it just seemed like a dad hob. You know what I mean?  Like, it’s a dad sport.  I can’t necessarily play full contact football anymore. That was my favorite.  And baseball, you can’t find eighteen folks that ain’t workin’, in one day, to go out and, you know, cut up on a baseball field. So, I’m a competitive guy and I’ve always been athletic, and golf is a good outlet for me. Plus it gets you out for four hours, and I usually cut my phone off, and that’s one of the only times in my life that I can kind of just turn the world off for a minute. I play with my dad and a lot of my buddies from back home, which is cool to kind of spend time and catch up with them.
