Justin Moore credits his mom with the inspiration for his latest single, “Why We Drink.” He says she asked him one night, when Justin and his wife were on a double date with his parents, and he had ordered a few drinks, “Why do you drink so much?”
For some people, double dating with your parents might seem like a nightmare, but Justin says, “My mom is honestly one of my best friends. And I’m close to my dad, too, and obviously have a great relationship with him. But my mom and I, we’re closer from a friend type perspective, in a way.”
In fact, years ago, Justin moved his family back to his home state of Arkansas so that he could be closer to his parents – they now live 400 yards apart, and he says, “I don’t know if that’s the mama’s boy kind of thing. Probably. But the fact that she’s always been and always will be completely honest with me, whether it’s good bad or indifferent, is something that I’ve always appreciated.”
