Thomas Rhett writes songs with a lot of other songwriters, and often seeks out new ones to help him explore different sounds and styles in his music, but without hesitation, he says, “My favorite person to write with, as a whole, I think is my dad. Even though I write with a bunch of other people, my dad and I do have a pretty special bond. Probably because he’s my dad, but he’s also like a really good friend of mine, and a really fun co-writer.”
Thomas and his dad, Rhett Akins, wrote “Look What God Gave Her” together, off his current Center Point Road album, but they also write plenty of songs for other people to record, as well. Thomas’ latest single, “Be A Light,” has cracked the top 20 on the charts and is continuing to climb, and it’s a song Thomas co-wrote with Matt Dragstrem, Josh Thompson and Josh Miller.
