When the coronavirus pandemic first started, Carly Pearce shared some rare details about her mom’s health, and the fear she had about keeping her mom healthy and Covid-19 free. She revealed that her mom, Jackie, has stage four COPD, which is a progressive lung disease that makes it increasingly difficult to breathe, and for which there is no cure at this time. Obviously, if her mom contracted Covid-19, which is also known to impact the lungs and the ability to breathe, it could be catastrophic. Recently, Carly was happy to share that four months into the pandemic, her mom, “is doing great. She really quarantined hard and never got it. I’m so grateful for that, and we took it really seriously and I got to have so much unexpected time with her.”
This extra time with her mom has been especially precious to Carly because her mom is one of her best friends and used to be able to travel on the road with her a lot more until the health risks became too great. “When I was on tour last year with Jason Aldean, she couldn’t come to a lot of shows anymore with her health,” Carly explains. “And it was a hard thing for me because I felt like she had helped get me there and so just to be able to kind of focus and to just be able to have that time was so awesome.”
Unfortunately, cases of Covd-19 in the U.S. have been surging in record numbers, which means the health risks to Carly’s mom and all of us are still very real. We continue to send our well wishes and prayers that Jackie remains Covid-19 free.
