Growing up, Brett Young always had a passion for music, but he thought his career path was going to be in Major League Baseball as a pitcher, until he blew out his elbow in college. That’s when Brett turned his attention full-time to music, but he knew it wasn’t, and it couldn’t be, just a plan B. Brett would have to work just as hard, if not harder, to pursue his dream in country music, and he says, “I knew that I loved it but you never know how much until A) You have some success, and B) It pushes you past what you thought your breaking point was. Because it would be really easy at some times to go, ‘This is too much. I’m exhausted. This is too much. And if I didn’t love it as much as I did maybe I would get there. But you learn how much you love and care about something when you’re put to that point.”
Whenever Brett has felt overwhelmed and exhausted in music, it’s the fans who have kept him going. He says, “The way that fans come out and the way that they care and love country music reminds me how blessed I am to get to do this. And I think that’s what I’ve learned about myself, is A) This is everything to me, and B) I’ve been blessed beyond what I ever thought.”
Brett’s hard work has paid off with six number one songs in a row, and his newest single, “Lady,” already being embraced by fans and beginning its climb up the chart.
