(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG SHARES THE STORY BEHIND WRITING HIS SONG “LADY”

Brett Young co-wrote his latest single, “Lady” with Ross Copperman and Jon Nite.  It’s a song that he wrote for his baby girl, Presley, a couple of months before she was born, and he explains the song came about because he knew he wanted to write a song for his daughter, and he says, “I just remember talking to Jon about the song that he wrote that Lee Brice recorded called ‘Boy,’ and how he didn’t want to do exactly that, but for a girl.  If we were gonna write it, let’s do something a little different.”

While trying to come up with a different angle to approach the song, Brett says, “It was (Jon’s) idea that the song isn’t about my daughter, but rather it’s a message to my daughter about my wife, her mom.. And once he landed on that – and the message was telling my daughter if you want to really know how to be a lady watch mom – it made me really emotional and excited to write that song.”

“Lady” is the first release off a new project Brett will be releasing as a follow-up to his current album, Ticket to L.A..
