Midland is a band that spends more time on the road than off, so this down time during the pandemic, when they can’t travel and can’t get on stage has definitely been challenging, especially when they’d love nothing more than to be out promoting their top 30 single, “Cheatin’ Songs.” Lead guitarist, Jess Carson is probably feeling especially restless because he’s had a fascination with exploring the world and seeing how other people live since he was a kid. “Growing up, like in a small town, it was just nowhere, just barely even on the map,” says Jess. “But you know, you pick up radio stations and I remember I’d listen to this countdown, just listening to these songs and going like, ‘I wonder what life is like where these people are?’ You know, it must be so crazy.”
Jess had developed a routine when Midland was on the road and he had some free time, where he would find a local coffee shop and then walk the town and explore antique stores. He’s hopeful to be able to get back to touring and back to his wandering ways.
