(AUDIO) JIMMY BUFFETT EXPLAINSTHE DEEPER MEANING OF ELI YOUNG BAND’S ‘SALTWATER GOSPEL (FINS UP VERSION) TO HIM”

CURRENT SINGLE: “Saltwater Gospel (Fins Up version) feat. Jimmy Buffett

Jimmy Buffett appears with Eli Young Band on the new “Fins Up Version” of their song “Saltwater Gospel.”  Obviously, Jimmy is beach life personified, so it’s not surprising that he agreed to be a part of the new version of the song, but he explains that “Saltwater Gospel” represented more than that to him, which was what attracted him to it.  “We have all partied by the ocean.  Let’s just start there,” says Jimmy. “But I think in these times it’s becoming more and more aware that the ocean is in trouble and we’re responsible for it.  And I think that that was what I loved about this song too, that it held the ocean up as a deity almost that needed to be respected and needed to be, in a sense, protected and thought of as more than a place to party.”

While Jimmy is all about enjoying the ocean and using it as an escape and even partying by the ocean, he also likes that Eli Young Band’s “Saltwater Gospel” addresses the ocean as “something that you needed to cherish and watch out for,” and that’s why he wanted to be part of the new version of the song.

Jimmy Buffett – care for ocean  :33

“We have all partied by the ocean.  Let’s just start there.  But I think in these times it’s becoming more and more aware that the ocean is in trouble and we’re responsible for it.  And I think that that was what I loved about this song too, that it held the ocean up as a deity almost that needed to be respected and needed to be, in a sense, protected and thought of as more than a place to party.  And that’s what I liked about it.  It was put up as something that you needed to cherish and watch out for.  So, I felt that in that song.”
