(AUDIO) CARLY PEARCE CHOSE WILDFLOWERS TO REMIND HER SHE’S STILL STANDING, STILL ALIVE AND FEELING HOPEFUL AND STRONG

CURRENT SINGLE: “Next Girl”

Carly Pearce’s latest song, “Next Girl,” is a warning to women about the kind of guy that acts sweet and says all the right things to get what he wants and then he moves onto the next girl.  For Carly the song is based on a lot of true stories – her own and her friends – who have encountered that guy, and based on the response she’s been getting about the song, it turns out a lot of women have met “that” guy.  “You know, I’ve had people be like, ‘Where was this song two years ago?’ Or, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re helping me get through this,’ or ‘Oh my gosh, I sent this to my friend.’”

Not only does it feel good to Carly to know that people like her song and they’re relating to it, but when they offer her that kind of feedback, she says, “They’re actually also, in return, helping me to make me feel like I’m not alone, which, that’s the really cool thing about what I do.”

While it’s not always easy, Carly has learned that the more vulnerable and honest she is in her songs, like her two #1 songs, “Every Little Thing” and “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” and now “Next Girl,” the more people relate to her music and are impacted by it.

“I say it every time when I write something – I mean it’s no different than any of the other songs I write but I’ve obviously experienced this in my life and to hear other women feel like I’m helping them … you know, I’ve had people be like, ‘Where was this song two years ago?’ Or, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re helping me get through this,’ or ‘Oh my gosh, I sent this to my friend.’  They’re actually also, in return, helping me to make me feel like I’m not alone, which, that’s the really cool thing about what I do.”
