CURRENT SINGLE: “Next Girl”
In recent years, a popular trend instead of making New Year’s resolutions has been to pick a word for the year. It’s a word you either want to incorporate into the way you live, need to be reminded of in your own life or hope to use as your guiding principle in the year ahead, such as “calm,” “bold” or “confident.” If Carly Pearce were to pick a word, she says it would be “worthy.” “I think that remembering your worth throughout life and throughout the things that happen, you have to believe in you and you have to go after the things that you need for you because nobody else will like you will.”
After experiencing one of the toughest years of her life in 2020, grieving the death of her dear friend and producer busbee, filing for divorce six months after she got married, having her life and livelihood put on hold because of the pandemic, plus not being able to spend a lot of time last year with her mom, who is her best friend, because she has stage 4 COPD and Carly was terrified of possibly exposing her to COVID-19, Carly had to fight to not lose sight of her worthiness in this life. Her faith played a big part in reminding her of her self-worth and the knowledge that “God will take you the places that you’re supposed to be and that he’s preparing you for something so much greater.”
