Recently, Carly Pearce has been able to play some socially distant acoustic shows at The Listening Room in Nashville. Prior to releasing her new project, 29, last Friday, some of Carly’s fans were so eager to hear her preview her new music, that they drove from hours away to listen to her sing, including Danielle Sparkman of Memphis, one of Carly’s most dedicated fans. About a week ago, Danielle made the 6+ hour roundtrip to attend one of Carly’s shows. Unfortunately, while driving home that night, Danielle was involved in a very serious car accident, when the driver in front of her suddenly stopped and she swerved to miss hitting the car, and ended up driving off the interstate and hitting a tree. Her car was totaled and she ended up with a broken shoulder and 100 stitches in her arm, plus some lacerations on her face.
Danielle is a college student working her way through school as a waitress, so she shared her story on Twitter with a GoFundMe link, hoping to raise some money to help cover her medical bills. Little did she know that Carly would find out about the post, and not only surprise her on a Zoom call, including singing her the title track off 29, but she also donated $1000 to Danielle’s GoFundMe campaign.
Danielle described the surprise Zoom session with Carly as “one of the coolest experiences to come out of one of the worst situations.” Afterward, she told Taste of Country, “Grateful that someone would care so much as to go out of their way to check up on me, especially on the day before their biggest album release ever. I think country music is the most inclusive and caring group of people and if this doesn’t show it then I don’t know what does.”
So far Danielle has raised close to $2,000 of her $10,000 fundraising goal. If you’d like to make a contribution to her cause, just search Danielle Sparkman on GoFundMe.com, and that will bring up her page, “Help Danielle with her car crash.”
