(AUDIO) RILEY GREEN HOPES TO TELL YOU WHO HE IS THROUGH HIS LYRICS

CURRENT SINGLE: “If It Wasn’t for Trucks”

Riley Green was born and raised in Alabama, and a few years ago, he built his forever home down there, even though he spends most of his time either in Nashville or on the road when there isn’t a pandemic happening.  He’s a simple country guy that likes the outdoors, is very close to his family and was raised with good southern manners, which may sound like a lot of the guys in country music, which is why Riley says, “I just think that if there’s anything that I could try to be right now, I think this is a great time to be a little different. Not too different, but I think one of the hardest things as a new artist is- say you have the number one song and people hear it and they sing along to it. But I don’t think they know who sings it all the time. I think they go, ‘Ahh, I like that song.  So, who is so-and-so?’”

So, when Riley is writing his songs and putting together his albums, he wants his music to tell the story of who he is.  “For me it’s puttin’ out a project that is still very much me and very much my style, and still a traditional sound and still telling my story for the people that don’t know who I am yet,” Riley says.  “Because at the end of the day, it’s all about trying to get new fans and people to find me, and although a lot of people probably heard ‘There Was This Girl’ and ‘I Wish Grandpas Never Died,’ they probably don’t know who I am. So, if I can keep portraying that guy that still says sir and ma’am and shakes hands, I think that’s kind of the message I’m trying to put out.”

If you listen to the lyrics in Riley’s latest single, “If It Wasn’t for Trucks,” you’ll hear a lot of lines that were inspired by his real life experiences.
