CURRENT SINGLE: “If It Wasn’t for Trucks”
Ask Riley Green’s fans, and they’d tell you he has a great voice and great songs. But ask Riley, and he’d say he has great songs because he doesn’t have a great voice. “I’ve never thought I was a really good singer,” Riley confesses, “and I said that when I was younger, but I’m still not real sure.”
Even though Riley didn’t have a lot of confidence in his voice, he gained confidence by playing a lot of shows in his hometown “in front of hometown folks and buddies of mine that probably didn’t come out because I was that good, just because they knew it was going to be a good time and I let ‘em drink on my bar tab. So, all that confidence I kind of built up. I just still look at it like nobody’s booed me yet.”
At this point, Riley figures the people coming to his live shows have heard him sing and they know what to expect, and he says, “I know a lot of guys that have been successful that didn’t have the most amazing voice in the world. I think I just try to write better songs, and if I can write a song that somebody can relate to, maybe they don’t pay as much attention to me singing. Or, you know, write a song that everybody sings along to you and then they can’t hear me as much.”
We definitely think Riley is his own toughest critic.
