CURRENT SINGLE: “Next Girl”
Carly Pearce heads into this Sunday’s ACM Awards with three nominations for Single and Musical Event of the Year for “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” and Female Artist of the Year. All of the nominations mean so much to Carly, but being in the Female Artist of the Year category is literally a dream come true. “I think as a woman in country music, if you grew up the way that I did, wanting this so badly, you dreamt of your name being called in that,” says Carly. “And so, I truly am not just saying this – I feel like I’ve already won just being in those five.”
Carly will also be performing “I Hope You’re Happy Now” for the first time with Lee on live television, and she says, “I’m definitely nervous to perform but I think it’s gonna be so much fun. Lee and I finally get to sing this song together that completely changed my whole world. And I think it’s gonna make it extra, extra special to get to do it on such a prestigious stage, and a stage that I’ve been dreaming of my whole life.”
When Carly thinks of young girls sitting in their living rooms, watching her perform on the ACM Awards, like she did for so many years with her female idols in country music, she says, “I hope that young girls that are watching, that maybe have dreams, they can see me and know my story, and they’re going to realize in that moment that they can do it too and feel empowered by that, in the way that Faith and Trisha and Dolly and Reba and Lee Ann Womack did for me.”
Find out if Carly wins and watch her performance of “I Hope You’re Happy Now” with Lee Brice, this Sunday night on the ACM Awards, live from Nashville at 8pm ET/7pm CT, on CBS.
