(AUDIO) RASCAL FLATTS LEAVES THEIR KIDS LOVE OF MUSIC UP TO THEM

CURRENT SINGLE: “How They Remember You”

Between the members of Rascal Flatts, there are seven kids, ranging in ages from six to 20, and all of them like music, and some have even shown interest in possibly pursuing music as a passion, a hobby or even a career.  When it comes to figuring out what kind of music his kids like or would be interested in, Jay DeMarcus says he leaves that up to them.  “I am a firm believer in you gotta let them pick their own path and choose their own destiny, you know.  I don’t wanna force anything on ‘em,” says Jay.  “If they love country music and it’s part of who they are, great. If they like some other genre of music and they wanna pursue something else, I think they should be exposed to all the possibilities out there.”

Gary LeVox, on the other hand, jokes that his two daughters love country music, because they were pretty much forced to listen to it as kids. “Brittany and Brooklyn, just as it was for me growin’ up, country and bluegrass and gospel, that would be their foundation, period.  Because they didn’t have a choice when daddy had the radio on.”

You might think being forced to listen to any kind of music might turn a kid off to that kind of music once they got older, but Gary is proud to say that his daughters, who are now 20 and 17, “When they do have a choice, they always seem to go back to country.”

Brittany is actually pursuing a career in music and has already released two pop-leaning songs called “Crime” and “Airplane Mode.”
