Brantley Gilbert has always referred to his albums as the latest chapter in his life, filled with songs written or co-written by him, which is why he has always enjoyed delivering full albums to his fans. “I remember when somebody would release a CD. It was like, well, you had to go beat everybody to Best Buy and go buy it and listen to the whole thing. And now it’s just clickin’ on a song, or you know, it pops up on a playlist or something.”
Brantley knows the way people are consuming music is different, and he’s learning to embrace the fact that they generally don’t listen to whole albums from beginning to end. He also knows that me that there are really no rules or a universally right way to release music. So he’s still hoping to be able to release projects that give his fans what they have come to expect from him. “I just feel like there’s a chance that some of the folks that listen really appreciate the story and wanna know it,” says Brantley. “You know, for them and for myself, it’s just the old-school thing that I believe in and like doing.”
