CURRENT SINGLE: “Not Yet”
After scoring his seventh consecutive #1 song with his deeply personal and special song, “Lady,” which he wrote about his wife for his daughter, Brett Young knew he wanted to follow it up with his latest single, “Not Yet.” “I think after ‘Lady’ it was time to switch it up, and going into summer have something that was just a good summer song and not too heady and not too deep.”
Brett knows that early on in his career he was becoming known as a ballad singer with songs like “In Case You Didn’t Know,” “Like I Loved You” and “Mercy,” so now he’s always trying to pay attention to the energy and the tempo of songs he releases back-to-back. And not only is “Not Yet” an upbeat song, the message is fun and positive. Brett says, “It’s a song about those moments in your life that you wish never had to end. I think everybody can pick and choose and plug in that one life experience that they have that this song makes ‘em think about. So, it just felt kinda like a fun summer no-brainer, and good way to follow up a song like ‘Lady.’”
Brett just played one of his first live shows with a full audience since the pandemic, and he has more festivals lined up later this month, which could get a little tricky to maneuver, depending on when his second daughter, who is due any day now, decides to make her entrance into the world.
