(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG HAS FIGURED OUT HIS ROLE WHEN IT COMES TO HELPING OUT WITH THE KIDS

CURRENT SINGLE: “Not Yet”

Brett Young just became a dad for a second time about two and a half weeks ago, to his second daughter, Rowan Marie.  Having learned a lot from being a first-time father with his almost two-year-old daughter Presley, Brett says, “I think what I’ve realized, like the best ‘dadding,’ is to be able to identify mom‘s needs without her having to tell you.”

Because both of daughters have been breast fed, Brett realizes, “(Taylor is) gonna take the brunt of it, especially at this age. Like, the baby needs mom all the time, so trying to figure out where you can insert yourself and help without getting to the point where she’s like, ‘AAGGHH! Help me!’”

Eventually, Brett realized that just being pro-active about the little things is a big help.  “I think at the beginning, it was like taking out the trash or doing the dishes, the things that I would normally do, but just making sure like there wasn’t ever a dish in the sink or the trash never got half full, or things like that. And now I think I’ve been able to watch Taylor be a mom long enough to know what she needs before she needs it. And so, I think that the skill set that I’ve kind of honed in on the most is being able to read Taylor and make sure she has what she needs from me before she has to ask me for it.”

There are probably a lot of moms with young babies saying, “Hey honey, take notes!”
