(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG LAUNCHED THE BY40 FITNESS CHALLENGE BECAUSE HE WAS GETTING WAY TOO COMFORTABLE BEING COMFORTABLE

CURRENT SINGLE: “Not Yet”

Back in March, Brett young turned 40, and he launched the BY40 Fitness Challenge.  Initially the idea was for him to team up with a personal trainer to shed his dad bod he had developed during quarantine, after the birth of his daughter Presley.  “This pandemic came right on the heels of having Presley,” explains Brett, “and so it was one excuse after another to make health and fitness an afterthought, and make excuses for putting it on the back burner, and then leaving it there for what turned out to be like 14 months for me.”

Brett, who was an athlete all his life knew he had gotten lazy and needed to break out of his comfort zone of doing nothing, and he says, “I knew I needed accountability and I couldn’t think of a better way to be held accountable than to announce it to the whole world.”

And sometimes achieving your fitness goals is easier when you have a workout buddy, so Brett enlisted the help of celebrity trainer Don Saladino, and invited his fans to join the BY40 Challenge for a chance to earn prizes and cool opportunities while getting healthy.  Knowing his fans were investing their time and energy into the program was another layer of accountability for Brett, in addition to wanting to get back into touring shape.  Brett says another huge motivator for him, “was also just the awareness of I’m getting’ a little older and just want to be healthy and around for my family as long as I can.”

While we don’t have the exact stats on Brett’s fitness progress, if you look at the before picture of him on BY40challenge.com and then look at some of his recent pictures on Instagram, you can definitely tell that he has lost weight in his face and is looking pretty toned up and fit these days.

And so I knew, because I was so comfortable with this new routine of doing nothing, I knew I needed to accountability and I couldn’t think of a better way to be held accountable than to announce it to the whole world. And so, for me, as much as getting in shape to go back to work, it was also just the awareness of I’m getting a little older and just wanting to be healthy and around for my family as long as I can.”
