CURRENT SINGLE: “The Worst Country Song of All Time”
Brantley Gilbert has been witness to many proposals during his career. He says, “We’ve had people propose in meet and greet lines and at shows and everything else.”
He’s had some nervous grooms-to-be ask him for advice or tips before they propose, and Brantley had some words of wisdom for them and their girlfriends. “I tell everybody, it’s like, even when it’s 100% chance that she’s gonna say yes, that you’ve talked about it and you haven’t been in an argument that day, it’s a vulnerable position,” says Brantley. “It’s somewhere we don’t spend much time in our lives.”
Brantley has been humbled by the fact that some guys choose one of his songs as part of their proposal because they don’t have the words to express all their emotions, and he gets it. “As men sometimes, not that we’re not willing to, but sometimes we just don’t know how to say what it is we feel.”
But for any guy considering popping the question, Brantley’s biggest piece of advice is, “You got to this point just doing you, so man, just do you. In your way, tell her what it is about her that makes you want to marry her. And if you can’t come up with anything get off your knee and run in the other direction.”
With a good laugh, Brantley admits, “That’s terrible advice.”
