CURRENT SINGLE: “Summer in a Small Town”
Kidd G first started mixing beats with his own lyrics and making music when he was 16, and his goal when he started was the same as it is today. He says, “My plan was to make music that my friends like.”
His beats and his lyrics took on a more country flavor because he says, “(My friends) like the country, so I’m just gonna take it to the next level and find the best way to do it. I treat it like a video game. Like what’s the next step from here? How can I do this better? How can I make better music for my friends?”
So far, Kidd’s plan of using his friends as a litmus test for his music has worked well for him. Based on the strength of his first country song, “Dirt Road,” and his debut single, “Summer in a Small Town,” he’s already racked up well over 100 million streams of his music, and Kidd says, “If my friends like it, fans are gonna like it. That’s how I look at it.”
