CURRENT SINGLE: “Am I the Only One”
Before launching his solo country music career in 2010, Aaron Lewis was the front man for the rock group Staind, and he says that it was actually Kid Rock who helped him get back in touch with his country music roots. “I was on tour with Kid Rock, the first real big tour that (Staind) ever went on,” explains Aaron. “And our bus had 13 people on it and there’s only 12 bunks. So, I rode Bob’s (Kid Rock’s) bus a lot.”
Kid Rock, who has dabbled in country music, is a huge fan of traditional and Outlaw country, and Aaron says, “Every night until the wee hours of the morning when I would ride his bus, there was nothing but my childhood soundtrack being played on the stereo, and it all crept back in. It was like God, I know these songs. I recognize these songs. This is like the soundtrack of my childhood. And that was really the catalyst for country music to creep back into my life.”
Aaron wrote his first country song when someone bet him that he couldn’t write a country song, which, Aaron says, “led to me taking the bet of trying to write a country song, and ‘Country Boy’ was the song that I wrote on the bet.”
“Country Boy” was a song on Aaron recorded for his first country music EP, which featured George Jones, Charlie Daniels and Chris Young.
