(AUDIO) AARON LEWIS IS GRATEFUL FOR THOSE WHO SERVED BECAUSE HE DIDN’T

CURRENT SINGLE: “Am I the Only One”

Aaron Lewis is a huge supporter of our military and our first responders, and he reveals that a lot of that comes from the fact that he did not serve our country.  “When I was 18, during that time if you remember, there was the over looming threat of them reinstating the draft for desert storm, and my dad from his experiences in the 60s and 70s wanted no part of that for me in my life,” shares Aaron. “Wouldn’t even let me register to vote, so that I wasn’t on the books yet as an 18-year-old, so that I wouldn’t, if the draft had actually happened, I wouldn’t have been part of that.”

The draft was never reinstated, and a lot of young men and women voluntarily served in the war, and Aaron says, “I’ve harbored guilt over that for my whole adult life. So, you know that guilt that I’ve harbored has manifested in me wanting to do as much for the soldiers and our first responders as I possibly can.”

Throughout his career, Aaron has traveled overseas and traveled the country to perform for and visit with those who serve our country, and to thank them for their service.
