Conner Smith spends Thanksgiving with his extended family in Nashville, and there are two things he looks forward to seeing on the dinner table every year. “For our family it’s a thing called carrot soufflé, and my mama makes it,” says Conner, and he admits the reason he likes it is because, “It’s supposed to be like a carrot side dish, but it’s just cake. And so, that’s always part of the plate, and me and my papa Joe always clean it out and there usually isn’t leftovers left. So, that’s the big Smith family treat.”
Once Conner gets his fill of carrot soufflé, he says, “My grandma makes a famous Smith family chocolate pie. So chocolate pie at the end, carrot soufflé during the dinner, that’s all you need for a Smith family holiday.”
