CURRENT SINGLE – “Sunrise Tells the Story”
Midland’s latest single, “Sunrise Tells the Story,” is about a guy and a girl who meet one night and end up hooking up, and the next morning they wake up to the reminder of what happened the night before, but also to the possibility that their hookup could be the start of something special. But it turns out, the original idea for the song could have resulted in something much different. According to Midland lead guitarist Jess Carson, “‘Sunrise Tells the Story,’ I think it was Jesse Alexander that had the title. She was toying around with this idea of it being kind of a song about waking up after a party, more of a playful kind of a thing. And we ended up steering it into more of a kind of a serious story of a couple falling in love.”
