When Charles Kelley co-wrote Lady A’s new single, “What A Song Can Do,” with Ryan Hurd, Laura Veltz and Sam Ellis, he was thinking about his wife, and how music played a role in his relationship with her.  But it was his bandmates, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood, who opened Charles’ eyes to a whole other interpretation of the song. “It wasn’t until the two of you were kinda sayin’, it’s almost like a little bit of a love letter to our fans, which I thought was kind of cool,” says Charles. “Because (the lyric) ‘It’s what brought me here to you, ain’t it crazy what a song can do’ … I was like man, I never thought about it that way because that really wasn’t the intention. It was actually, it’s what brought me here to you, my wife. Like, it’s what brought us together, you know, and it’s that as well.”

Charles loves that Lady A can offer “What A Song Can Do” as a gift to their fans or that he can sing it to his wife. “I think that’s the cool thing about music in general, is everyone can find their own meaning in songs.”
