Eli Young Band’s brand new single is called “Love Talking,” and it’s about telling someone how you really feel about them, but not because you’re under the influence of alcohol or anything. It’s simply the love talking. The guys in EYB admit there’s one particular type of love talking that gets them every time … when it’s coming from their kids.
There are nine kids between the four members of Eli Young Band, and lead singer Mike Eli says when it comes to his nine year old daughter Kline telling him she loves him, “I don’t remember the first time but I feel like every time she says it it’s like the first time.”
Bass player Jon Jones also has two kids, and he remembers when his kids started saying ‘I love you.’ “It’s great when they can make words, but they’re repeating,” says Jon. “And then, at some point they know what it means and they say it. Or, you say I love you and they say, ‘Aww, I love you too.’ Or they say it unprompted.”
Jon says, when it comes to having his kids tell him they love him, and he knows they understand what it means, “It’s tough to beat that feeling.”
